Gosling fans, cinephiles and occasional Twitter users have a sympathetic reaction to the image of the Canadian actor, who stars alongside Margot Robbie’s Barbie. It is the first official image of Gosling as a character who became famous in the gaming corridor. Based on the photo, Gosling transformed into the quintessential Ken: His skin is orange and shows off an eight-pack of belly and blond hair. His underpants are inexplicably embellished with his name and he is waving a sleeveless denim shirt without a shirt in front of a pink Pepto-Bismol background. Ken is a boy from Malibu at times. But in terms of plot, the photo is all we have to go on (as well as a photo of Robbie posing inside the character in a pink convertible). Will Barbie get tired of Ken’s awkward ways? Will Ken prove to his beloved Barb that he has more than an absurd amount of abdominal muscle? Or will Ken conspire against Barbie and become the villain of her story? The big cast adds to the mystery of what the film could be – it includes comedians like Issa Rae and Will Ferrell as well as rising stars Hari Nef and Ncuti Gatwa. It is rumored that some of the many cast members will be playing alternate versions of Barbie and Ken. But will any of them be Skipper? Fans will have to wait until July 21, 2023, when the film will be released, to find out what Barbie, Ken and Will Ferrell are doing.
