Earlier this month, homicide investigators released a complex sketch of the girl and a vehicle of interest that was stopped at Castle Frank Road and Dale Avenue, where the girl’s remains were found.
The vehicle was described as a dark Porsche Cayenne SUV with a model year between 2011 and 2014. Police said the vehicle stopped in the area for about 21 seconds on the night of April 28th.
On Wednesday, police revealed that they located the vehicle and spoke to the driver.
“The vehicle and the driver were found to have nothing to do with the investigation,” police said.
Investigators continue to appeal for information about the case, calling on the public to “concentrate” on the girl’s complex sketch.
“They hope someone recognizes her and could help identify who this little girl is,” police said.
Her remains, wrapped in a crocheted blanket in a plastic bag inside a colored blanket, were found in a construction rubbish bin outside a house on May 2nd.
Police believe the girl’s body was thrown between 12 p.m. on April 28 at 4:45 p.m. on May 2. They added that the girl may have been dead since last summer or even earlier.
The autopsy confirmed that the remains belonged to a black girl of African or mixed African descent, who was between four and seven years old.
It was about three feet six inches tall with slender build and black curly hair that was cut into four short ponytails, two of which were braided and fastened with black and blue elastic bands. She had all her teeth.
