UPDATE 11:50 a.m. Kelowna RCMP has released more information about the search for a missing person who went missing on Tuesday and is believed to have been abducted at Mission Creek. “Kelowna RCMP received a report of a missing woman, 31-year-old Chelsea Cardno was last seen leaving her residence on Dougall Road South in Kelowna at 8:00 am. yesterday. “By the time she left her home, she was going to walk her German Shepherd JJ near Mission Greenway,” Const said. Mike Della-Paolera. Officers searched the area around Mission Greenway and found Cardno’s white BMW parked at the north end of Pasadena Street. Central Okanagan Search and Rescue Volunteers and police conducted ground, water and air searches throughout the afternoon and through Tuesday night. COSAR completed the survey at 9:30 p.m. and will continue research today. Cardno is described as a quadruped-11, 108 pounds with brown hair and blonde highlights. She was last seen wearing a blue or gray hat, a bright red inflatable jacket, sneakers and black military boots with laces. “At the time Chelsea lost, Mission Creek’s water level was high and moving fast,” said Della-Paolera. “During the search in the area, COSAR rescued kayaks that capsized at the mouth of Mission Creek. “Given the local state of emergency, the Kelowna RCMP is urging citizens to stay away from Mission Creek.” The Kelowna RCMP wants to hear from anyone who may have been to Mission Greenway and Mission Creek yesterday and may have seen Chelsea Cardno or her “JJ” dog. If you have information, call the Kelowna RCMP at 250-762-3300. ORIGINAL 8:50 a.m. The search for a missing person who is believed to have fallen in Mission Creek near Pasadena Rd. remains suspended on Wednesday morning. COSAR Director Duane Tresnich tells Castanet that RCMP and COSAR searched Pasadena Rd. to Gallagher Gorge until they suspended service at 9:30 p.m. Tuesday night. Tresnich says the operation has been suspended until they meet with the RCMP later this morning. “The RCMP is continuing its investigation and we will meet later this morning, until then we will be in a booking pattern.” COSAR launched its rescue boat last night as it exhausted all the boulevards in search of the missing person. Tresnich says river flow levels have dropped significantly overnight, “while we were searching, we could see trees being torn from the shore and drifting.” The Kelowna RCMP tells Castanet that it received a report of a possible missing person in the Mission Creek area on Tuesday afternoon. “With great care, COSAR and RCMP Air Services were activated and assisted in the investigation of the area,” said RCMP spokesman Cpl.
