Jason Carels, 35, set his $ 10 million bond by Lake County Judge, but prosecutors plan to file a bail application at a hearing that could take place later this week. It seems that Karels and his wife had an ongoing battle for custody. Prosecutors said the father left a note in the house saying if she could not have children, then neither could she. Police said a mother who had to pick up her three children from her estranged husband contacted them around 1:40 p.m. to do a welfare check inside a 200-square-foot East Camden Lane home in Sutton-on-the. -Lake subdivision. When police arrived, they found the three children, identified as 5-year-old Bryant, 3-year-old Cassidy and 2-year-old Gideon Carels from Lake County Medical Examiner’s Office. The forensic service said preliminary autopsies showed they had died from drowning. Their bodies were found in a bedroom. Prosecutors said Carels strangled them one by one. Lake County board member Dick Barr created a GoFundMe for the mother. “He wants people to know who they were and he wants people to remember them,” Barr said. “I’ll tell you, we get hundreds of emails from people saying ‘what else can we do?’ Police arrested Karels when he crashed his Nissan off Interstate 80 near Joliet after a high-speed chase with police. Police said Karels was taken into custody and told police he was responsible for the deaths. “After the crash, Carels made statements to police officers who were involved in the pursuit and wore cameras carrying his body, indicating that he was responsible for the deaths of children in the home of Lake Lake Beach,” said Road Police Chief Lake Lake Beach. , Gilbert Rivera. “He also said he tried to commit suicide several times after the children died, but was unsuccessful during those attempts.” Following his treatment, Karels, who has been charged with three counts of murder, was transferred to Lake County Jail. “I do not know if anything could stop it or if there were early indications of this,” said Rivera. “As I said, we were not familiar with this family or the house.” The community is struggling to understand this absurd act, but is now rallying around the mother of these children with a growing monument outside the home. If Karels posts a link before the next hearing, he’s supposed to stay away from the mother of these kids.
