The next cheap iPad will have a Retina display with the same resolution of 1640×2360 as the iPad Air, which means that its diagonal will also change from 10.2 “currently to 10.9” to match the latest iPad Air that released in March. However, support for a wide range of colors and high brightness will remain exclusive to the most expensive tablets in the Apple range. The upcoming cheap iPad will be powered by the A14 Bionic chipset with 5G support, the same source claims, and will be equipped with a USB-C port – Lightning will be gone. So, from that point on, the entire modern Apple tablet catalog will feature USB-C. It’s strange that iPhones have not yet followed suit, but may be forced to do so in the future. It is not yet clear when this new cheap iPad will be unveiled, but if history repeats itself, then it should appear at the iPhone launch event in the fall. Source
