The Asian superpower has taken some of the most drastic measures since the pandemic began in recent weeks, although its workload is low compared to other major countries because it is tied to an incompatible “zero Covid” strategy. The latest increase in cases is believed to be due to Omicron, which is said to be the dominant variant, which devastated the UK at Christmas and New Year. First spotted in South Africa in November 2021, it spread rapidly across the globe last December, proving to be more easily contagious but less severe than its parent stigma. Here, we take a look at some of the most common variant-related symptoms for the fully vaccinated – and two early warning signs you may have it. The most common symptoms for fully vaccinated Researchers in Norway conducted a study by interviewing 111 of the 117 guests at a party on November 26, 2021 where there was an Omicron outbreak. Of the group asked, 66 had definitive cases of Covid-19 and 15 had possible cases of the virus. Of the 111 participants, 89 percent had received two doses of mRNA vaccine and none had received a booster vaccine. According to the findings published in the journal Infectious Diseases and Epidemiology Eurosurveillance, there were eight major symptoms presented by the group of fully vaccinated viewers. These were: persistent cough, runny nose, fatigue, sore throat, headache, muscle aches, fever and sneezing. The study found that cough, runny nose and fatigue were among the most common symptoms in vaccinated people, while sneezing and fever were less common. Although the vaccine protects against the most serious risks of the virus, it is still possible to get Covid even if you get both a vaccine and a booster vaccine. The mild nature of the symptoms makes it difficult for people to distinguish the virus from a common cold. But according to Professor Tim Spector, behind the ZOE Symptom Study App, about 50 percent of “new colds” are actually Covid. Omicron may have two early warning signs Experts also suggest that there are two distinct symptoms that could be a sign that a positive test is just around the corner: fatigue and dizziness or fainting. More than just feeling tired, fatigue can translate into physical pain causing aches or weak muscles, headaches and even blurred vision and loss of appetite. Dr Angelique Coetzee, a private physician and president of the South African Medical Association, told Good Morning Britain that fatigue was one of Omicron’s main symptoms when the variant broke out in South Africa. Dizziness or fainting is the second sign that you may have Omicron. A report from Germany recently suggested that there may be a link between fainting and Omicron after doctors in Berlin found that Covid was triggering recurrent episodes of dizziness in a 35-year-old patient admitted to hospital. The German newspaper Arztezeitung reported that doctors could see a “clear link” between the infection and fainting.
