As noted by Zuckerberg, this was a much-needed feature, providing more flexibility and security to the many WhatsApp users who want to switch to a new device. WhatsApp added the ability to transfer your data from iPhone to Android last year, which was a major pain point for many WhatsApp users. Prior to last year’s update, the transfer of your information meant that you lost your chat history, as there was no way to maintain security on the go. Because WhatsApp conversations are end-to-end encrypted and stored on the device, Meta says it had to work with operating system developers to find a solution that made it easier to share data that way. And now, those who switch between Android and iPhone will have the same capacity, which will give users more options in choosing and managing their device. The updated process will be released to all WhatsApp users from today.
