The New York Court of Appeals rejected the appeal “on the grounds that no substantive constitutional issue is directly involved.” Former President Trump, Donald Trump Jr. and Ivanka Trump have now exhausted their appeals and are due to testify on July 15, according to a previous order filed in the case. The New York Attorney General’s Office is investigating possible discrepancies in the way the Trump Agency valued certain assets when seeking loans or seeking tax breaks. Trump has long denied any wrongdoing in the years-long investigation. The New York City Court of Appeals gave Trump until Monday to file an appeal, dismissing it a day later – on Donald Trump’s 76th birthday. New York Attorney General Letitia James said her office found “significant evidence” of fraud in the investigation into how Trump and the Trump Agency valued real estate in the state. The investigation examined whether the Trump administration used fraudulent or misleading valuations of its holdings in various ways to obtain a range of financial benefits, including loans, insurance coverage and tax breaks. Among the properties under investigation is 40 Wall Street in the financial district of Manhattan. Seven Springs, Trump’s estate in Westchester. Trump Park Avenue; even Trump’s triplex apartment in the Trump Tower. A parallel criminal investigation by the Manhattan Attorney’s Office has already led to allegations of tax fraud against Allen Weisselberg, Trump’s longtime chief financial officer, and the company itself. Both pleaded not guilty. A trial is expected in the fall.
