An obstetrician of St. John has been ratified by a court of the College of Physicians and Surgeons.
The court was summoned after a patient complained against Dr. Krista Brown who attended her birth in January 2019. The baby died a few hours after the birth.
Dr. Brown admitted in the Agreed Statement of Facts about crisis errors that forced her to give birth with forceps to the patient instead of an emergency cesarean section.
The patient also expressed anxiety about Dr. Brown’s lack of communication after the death of her baby.
The obstetrician admitted that her failure to assess the importance of locating the fetal heart and the need for urgent intervention showed grave negligence or reckless contempt for the health and safety of her patient and daughter.
The court accepted a joint request agreeing to reprimand Dr. Brown, to successfully complete a course on proper management of the work at her own expense and within four months, and also to complete a course on effective communication with a patient.
