Police were called to a serious collision with a van and taxi at 22:45 on Monday in the M606 heading south, in Bradford, according to West Yorkshire Police. A police vehicle was parked nearby before the allegedly stolen Ford Transit van veered off course at the Chain Bar roundabout. Two men, aged 28 and 49, who were riding in the taxi, were found dead at the scene. An 18-year-old passenger of the van died at the hospital on Tuesday morning. A 17-year-old boy, a passenger in the van, is being treated in hospital with serious but not threatening injuries, the force said. The 15-year-old driver has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving but is also being treated in hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries. Due to the nature of the incident, West Yorkshire Police informed the Independent Police Behavior Office. After sending investigators to the scene, the IOPC said the evidence showed that police did not follow the truck on the wrong side of the highway. IOPC Regional Director Thea Walton said: “It was a tragic incident that resulted in three people losing their lives. Our thoughts are with all those who have been affected. “We understand that this will be of great concern to the community and I would like to assure people that there will be a thorough, independent investigation to understand what exactly happened. “We will be in touch with the families as soon as possible to explain our role and how our research will proceed.”
