Authorities say Pejhmaun Iraj Khosroabadi, 33, should be considered armed and dangerous. The manhunt for his whereabouts began shortly before 8 a.m. Monday when an officer attempted to stop traffic at the intersection of Laurel Canyon Avenue and Landale Street, according to the CHP. Witnesses told ABC7 that the driver initially refused to drift. Eventually, the driver and police officer entered the parking lot at Campbell Hall Episcopal, a private K-12 elementary school. The driver got out of the car and a physical fight ensued. It was then that authorities said the suspect pulled out a gun and fired several shots, hitting the policeman several times before fleeing. Shortly after the shooting, a large police force surrounded an apartment complex in the area of Saticoy Street and Haskell Avenue in Van Nuys, where the perpetrator is believed to have been blocked. A car matching the description of the suspect’s vehicle was found near the apartment complex. The video from the scene recorded loud explosions as SWAT police officers tried to remove the suspect from the apartment complex. Authorities eventually said the suspect had not been located, but believe he is still in the area. Meanwhile, the injured policeman was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center for treatment. Khosroabadi, who has brown hair and brown eyes, was last seen wearing a long-sleeved T-shirt and black pants. The investigation is ongoing. Copyright © 2022 KABC Television, LLC. All rights reserved.
