The RCMP Southeast District Major Crime Unit has been called in to help Oliver RCMP after a man was shot dead on an estate in the land of the Osoyoos Indian Band. Just before 4 a.m. Sunday, police from Oliver were called in to report shootings on the 1000-square-foot Pine Ridge Drive. Despite the rescue efforts of the victim’s associate, the 61-year-old man had died by the time the police and rescuers of the Emergency Service of BC arrived. The Police Dog Services, the South East District Forensics Department and the Penticton South Okanagan Similkameen Regional Investigation Department are on the scene gathering information. Police are also investigating the area for witnesses and video surveillance. “It’s too early to make any specific determination, but the first indications are that it was not a random shot. However, we will continue to let the evidence guide us as we continue our investigation, “said Inspector Brent Novakoski, Senior Investigator at the BC RCMP Southeast Region Major Crime Services Anyone with homicide information should contact the SED MCU Advice Line at 1-877-987-8477.
